Grading Policy for Titan Science
LATE HOMEWORK POLICY (from Student/Parent Handbook 2014-15)
Students will be able to turn in any late assignment within one week of the original due date.
Parents will be notified that the assignment is late and students may be assigned “homework
hour” or a time during lunch or before school to complete the assignment if it is not turned in the
next day. The assignment can be turned in for a maximum score of 80%. Any assignment not
received within one week will receive a zero in the grade book.
ABSENCES (from Student/Parent Handbook 2014-15)
When a student must be absent, the parent or guardian should contact the school attendance
office before 9:30 a.m. on the day of the absence. The school will attempt to contact parents
who fail to call. Should there be no contact from the parent within two (2) school days,
the absence will be unexcused.
All work missed during a period of an excused absence may be made up. The student will have
the same number of days to make up the work as the student misses unless the teacher grants
additional time. No penalty will be assessed against work made up for excused absences. Any
examination or test announced during the student’s presence will be made up on the day the
student returns to class. The student will be obligated to take the test on that day. Should the
student be absent at the time the test is announced, and thus is not aware of the scheduled test,
the student will have the same number of days to make up the test(s) as the student misses unless
additional time is granted by the teacher.
